Abstract Purpose of review The present article will describe the unique factors in COVID-19 patients that predispose these individuals to develop mucormycosis with emphasis placed on prevention and treatment COVID-19-associated (CAM). Recent findings Viral specific factors, pre-existing diabetes mellitus, treatments combine facilitate development mucormycosis. There appears be a gross overutilization steroid antibiotic therapy among patients. Appropriate stewardship conjunction tight glucose control may prevent CAM effective pharmacologic surgical therapy. for has been extrapolated from traditional therapies, high-level, empiric evidence regarding efficacy CAM-specific does not exist. Summary Cellular impacts COVID-19, poor diabetic management, overuse antibiotics corticosteroids likely increase risk Minimizing should curb CAM. Current borrowed Future prospective studies are needed begin developing regimens.
